MW3 gets a new multiplayer mode called Vortex in Season 1. Here’s everything you need to know about Vortex in Modern Warfare 3, including how it works.
MW3 Season 1 is set to bring a plethora of new content for players to enjoy, from new maps and weapons to balance changes and QoL updates.
As well as all this, the devs are also bringing new and returning modes to multiplayer. On top of Gunfight and All or Nothing, players are also getting a brand-new LTM called Vortex.
For those curious as to how this mode works, here’s everything you need to know about MW3’s Vortex mode, which brings an element of Zombies to multiplayer.
What is the Vortex LTM in MW3 & when does it arrive?
Vortex is a new LTM for MW3 Season 1 arriving at the halfway stage of the season. Once it arrives mid-season, it will be available for a limited time. The mode is a variation of Free-For-All in which one player spawns with the Ray Gun from Zombies. Eliminate the player with the Ray Gun to get it yourself and reach the kill limit to win the match.
It’s essentially Free-For-All with a Ray Gun, and the longer you stay alive with the Wonder Weapon, the longer you will have it, increasing your chances of winning thanks to its one-shot capabilities. Only one player in the match can have the Ray Gun at one time.
The MW3 Vortex game mode will be played on three MW3 “remixed Multiplayer maps: Satan’s Quarry, Sporeyard, and Tetanus.” These are “otherworldly” versions of the multiplayer maps: Quarry, Scrapyard, and Rust. These versions of the maps are darker and more spooky, but all-in-all it’s mainly cosmetic and they have the same layout.
The exact date Vortex will arrive in MW3 is yet to be confirmed, as well as how long it will be available in the game. As soon as that information is available, we’ll be sure to update this section so stay tuned.
