Just like all CoD titles, Modern Warafre 3 features a Prestige system that looks to keep players busy long after they hit the last Military Rank. Here’s everything you need to know about the Prestige system in MW3.
Modern Warfare 3 is packed full of unlockables at launch, from the 37 new weapons to the different Perks and Equipment with unique effects. Now that the multiplayer grind is back on, players are jumping in to level up as quickly as possible and try out each new gun.
However, just like all recent Call of Duty games, MW3 is set to be supported for many months through regular seasonal updates and content drops. In previous years, the Prestige system gave players more room to level up once they’ve hit the highest Military Rank, but is the feature back this time around?
Here’s everything you need to know about the Prestige system in Modern Warfare 3.
Can you Prestige in Modern Warfare 3?
There is currently no way to Prestige in Modern Warfare 3, as the feature is likely to be introduced with the Season 1 update expected on December 6, 2023. Although this hasn’t been officially confirmed by the devs, it would follow the same schedule as MW2 (2022) which also added the system in Season 1.
This means that for the time being, Level 55 is the maximum rank in MW3 multiplayer and players will have to wait a little longer to continue progressing.

MW3 Prestige system explained
The devs are yet to announce how the MW3 Prestige system will work, but we expect it to follow the same format as Modern Warfare 2. In last year’s game, players would automatically Prestige once they got past Level 55, meaning Rank 56 unlocked Prestige 1.
Then with every 50 levels, players would increase their Prestige Ranks, earning unique Calling Cards, Emblems, and more along the way. The small badge next to a player’s name also changes with each new level to reflect their progress.
MW3 Season 1 is likely to bring five Prestige Ranks, so here’s a breakdown of the expected levels needed for each one:
- Prestige 1: Rank 56
- Prestige 2: Rank 100
- Prestige 3: Rank 150
- Prestige 4: Rank 200
- Prestige 5: Rank 250
As Modern Warfare 3 receives more updates in the coming months, fans can look forward to the maximum Prestige increasing, ensuring there’s plenty to grind towards throughout the game’s lifespan.
It’s worth keeping in mind that this is all speculation based on previous CoD multiplayer, we’ll be sure to update this page with official details once the MW3 Prestige system is confirmed.
