The Overkill Perk is a staple in the Call of Duty series, and Modern Warfare 3 players trying to run two primary weapons will be wondering where to find it. Here’s how to get Overkill in MW3.
Modern Warfare 3 brings the biggest launch lineup of weapons in the CoD series to date. Sledgehammer Game’s new multiplayer offers 37 new guns, alongside every Modern Warfare 2 weapon thanks to the Carry Forward feature.
With so many different options to choose from, players may want to run two different primaries at once, such as an SMG to pair with a Sniper Rifle. In past CoD titles, this was done through Overkill, but the Perk is nowhere to be found in MW3.
So, how do you get Overkill in Modern Warfare 3? Here’s everything you need to know.
How to get Overkill in MW3
Modern Warfare 3 players can use Overkill by equipping the Gunner or Overkill Vests. While there is no Perk to let you use two primary guns at once, the ability has been moved to Vests this year as part of the new Gear-based system.

Both Vests allow players to run any combination of primary weapons, but they each come with unique buffs. The Gunner Vest ensures you always spawn with maximum ammo and speeds up reload times, while the Overkill Vest lets players reload while sprinting and improves how quickly you can swap weapons.
The Gunner Vest is the easiest way to use Overkill in MW3.
How to unlock Overkill in MW3
The Gunner Vest is unlocked by reaching Level 20 in Modern Warfare 3, making it the first piece of gear to offer two primary weapons. Then, the Overkill Vest is unlocked at Level 50, much closer to the maximum rank of 55.
While it shouldn’t take too long to get hold of both of these Vests in MW3, the process can be sped up significantly by using Double XP Tokens or playing during Double XP events.
