Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3‘s slew of seasonal kicked off with the Season 1 update on December 7, bringing never-seen-before maps, new weapons, buffs and nerfs, and more. The CODMAS event arrives to celebrate the festive season, and then all eyes will be on Season 1 Reloaded.
Here’s everything we know about MW3 Season 1 Reloaded so far including when it’s set to begin, Ranked Play, new maps and modes, and more.
MW3 Season 1 Reloaded expected release date
Officially we know that Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 Reloaded is in “early 2024” but we expect the update to arrive on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
Season 1’s Battle Pass has Classified Battle Pass Sector unlocking on January 17, which puts it at just a week more than exactly halfway through the season which ends on February 7. This Classified Battle Pass Sector is likely for the Season 1 Reloaded content, but we’ll need to wait and see to know for sure.
MW3 Ranked Play arrives in Season 1 Reloaded
Modern Warfare 3 receives its Ranked Play mode with the Season 1 Reloaded update. Here, players fight it out on the same maps and modes as the Call of Duty League, climbing the Skill Divisions and earning exclusive rewards.
MW2’s Ranked Play was a hit and Modern Warfare 3 “builds on the foundation established” by its predecessor, but will feature MW3’s weapons, maps, and of course, new rewards to earn.
New weapons in MW3 Season 1 Reloaded
The HRM-9 SMG and TAQ Evolvere LMG are set to arrive in Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 Reloaded. Their exact release dates haven’t been confirmed so they might not both arrive with the Reloaded update, but we would expect at least one of them in the update.
MW3 Season 1 Reloaded brings Rio map
Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 Reloaded brings the brand-new Rio 6v6 map, taking place in an “upscale shopping center” in Rio de Janeiro.
This small-to-medium-sized map has both the mall and exterior streets, with the covered walkway and the top of the garage offering high ground.
New modes in MW3 Season 1 Reloaded
Five new modes arrive in Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 Reloaded: Vortex, Santa’s Slayground, Infected, Headquarters, and Team Gunfight.
Vortex is a brand-new free-for-all game mode taking place on reimagined multiplayer maps, Satan’s Quarry (Quarry), Sporeyard (Scrapyard), and Tetanus (Rust), where one player is given the legendary Ray Gun. Whoever kills the player with the Ray Gun will get to use the Wonder Weapon, and it’ll keep going until someone reaches the score limit.
Santa’s Slayground is another new mode that’s part of the CODMAS event. The event is set to begin on December 20 but this multiplayer mode is scheduled for the mid-season, so might not arrive until 2024.
