MW3 introduced the Tac-Stance mechanic to the series, and the new aiming option gives players a great strategic advantage in close quarters. Here’s all you need to know about the new mix between ADS and hip-fire in MW3.
Modern Warfare 3 arrived as a better and more competitive version of MW2, with mechanics like Slide cancel reintroduced into the game. Better recoil animations and faster gameplay were changes in MW3 that the community received well.
Among all those changes, the new aiming options are giving players new opportunities to handle weapons. Aiming down sights and hip-fire were the choices players had when making fast-paced decisions in matches, and with this in mind, the developers added a third aiming mechanic.
Sledgehammer Games introduced the Tac-Stance in MW3, and here’s how to use it.
How to use Tac-Stance in MW3
To use Tac-Stance in MW3, you must first decide which activation method you want for this mechanic. The options are Aim + Melee, Aim + Down, or Off and they can be found inside the MW3’s gameplay settings.
Follow this step-by-step list to find the option and start practicing:
- Jump into settings by selecting the option in the top right corner
- Go over the Gameplay Settings tab
- Find the ‘Tactical ADS Activation’ option
- Select your preferred activation method
- Input the option you’ve selected to activate Tac-Stance in-game
MW3: What is Tac-Stance?
The worldwide reveal blog post for MW3 included the introduction of Tac-Stance, a feature that provides a tighter bullet spread than normal hip firing and quicker mobility than ADS.
Tac-Stance is described as the “perfect middle-ground between hip-fire and aiming down sights,” and players might find this familiar. When sliding and shooting, Tac-Stance is automatically used, so mastering it in regular combat situations might require some practice.
Sledgehammer Games have also described it as a “balance between mobility and accuracy, allowing for evasive maneuvers and aggressive engagements.” It could be a must-have in every MW3 player’s skill set when taking on the upcoming Ranked Plays.
